2024 WALKING GROUP PROGRAMME –
WED 24 July – Draycott & West Mendip Way – 6.0 miles
Minor road to join the West Mendip Way with glorious views. Back through Draycott Sleights Nature Reserve. Long road incline to start. Sometimes rough underfoot.
Start: Road parking outside Garrett Saddlers, Back Lane, Draycott. BS27 3TS

WED 31 July – Fields & Wooded Combes from Cleeve – 6.3 miles
An easy walk to Brockley then an undulating walk taking in Tap's Combe, Wrington Warren and Goblin Combe.
Start: Goblin Combe Car Park, Cleeve Hill Road, Cleeve. BS49 4PH

WED 07 August – Burrington Combe – 5 miles
Country paths and lanes. One steady climb to splendid views.

WED 21 August – Triscombe Stone & Aisholt Common – 7.5 miles
A gentle ascent to Triscombe Stone on quiet lanes and good surface woodland tracks. Returning on good tracks, with wonderful views, back to the Reservoir.

WED 28 August – Bishops Sutton – 7.5 miles
Good views of Chew Valley after a climb to start. Passing through Camley & Hinton Blewett to more views before dropping down across Burledge Common
Start: New Manor Farm off A368 after Herriots Bridge (Farm shop & Café for after walk refreshments)

WED 04 Sept – East Quantoxhead circular walk - 6 miles
Coastal and countryside walk
Start point: Kilve village hall car park. TA5 1EA

WED 11 Sept – Bleadon circle – 6 miles
From Purn the walk heads up to Bleadon Hill and on through to the Hutton Hill nature reserve. The walk returns to Bleadon Hill and down Hellenge Hill to Bleadon. Excellent viewpoints of the surrounding landscape. Some steep but manageable inclines.
Start: Bleadon farm shop and cafe car park. BS24 0QE

WED 18 Sept – Shepton Mallet – 6.9 miles
Through medieval Shepton Mallet, across fields, along Fosse Way & through Beacon Woods to Chelynch down to Shepton‘s Viaduct and old prison.

Exploring the footpaths around Nether Stowey, Over Stowey and Frian hamlet,
A couple of undulating climbs.

A varied undulating walk with views over the Bristol Channel. Includes stops at three interesting Churches on the way. Afternoon tea at Chantry Tea Gardens available afterwards.

WED 09 October – A Lake, a Hill and a Folly – 5.6 miles
Taking in Chew Valley Lake, a hill with superb views, fields and streams.
Start: Woodford Lodge car park – long drive off the B3114 road between Herons Green Causeway and Chew Stoke. Follow signs to public car park. BS40 8XH

WED 23 October – Bladgon Lake – 6.4 miles
Walk around the lake. Starts down to the lake from the town and finishes at the lake. Likely to be muddy but some drier paths

Eastern edge of the Quantocks. King’s Cliff Wood taking in the Macmillan Way West. Off grid away from most farm tracks.
Start: Forest Car Park on right at top of rise on Clavelshay Road (signposted Clavelshay from Cliff Road). TA6 6PF

Strawberry Line to the north of Winscombe, then to Shipham and passing Callow Hill Quarry to finish.
Start: Car park off A371(right off A38 Shute Shelf at top of hill after crossroads at Cross) Axbridge. BS26 2AJ
