​WELCOME AND INFORMATION
We  welcome  new members,  and we also answer many questions, keep a list of tradespeople and help generally.  Our main purpose is to “meet and greet” keeping a special eye out for newcomers.  We give them guidance and advice on Groups, introduce them to Group Leaders, make sure they have a cuppa and introduce them to others at the tables.  The success of this depends on the members making them welcome.
Also please inform us when people are sick, bereaved or any special occasion enabling us to send a card if appropriate.
I also circulate around the rooms making sure nobody is sitting alone.  Our main aim being to support, friendship and companionship at our U3A.
N.B.  If you are a member and you feel you would like to join our Group you would be very welcome.  Please contact me either at the coffee morning or telephone 792618.

 Privacy Statement 
The new GDPR (Data Protection) requirements came into force in May 2018. Accordingly, this statement declares that we hold your name and address on the lawful basis of Legal Obligation and the remainder on the basis of Legitimate Interest.
The information we keep is limited to:
  • Your name and address (required by law).
  • Your email address (if you have one).
  • Your phone number(s) if any.
  • Your emergency contact (optional).
We need this information to identify you as a U3A member and to communicate with you. Provision of your name and address is a condition of U3A membership. In addition we may record your membership of U3A Groups and activities, or your presence on a waiting list for an activity. The information is stored encrypted on a secure SSL/TSL server maintained professionally by the Third Age Trust. Original paper copies are retained and stored securely.
We do not keep any information defined as ‘Sensitive Personal Data.’
We process your data by:
  • Using it to communicate with you, and to keep you informed about U3A activities.
  • Maintaining Attendance Registers, Waiting Lists, Booking and Contact lists etc, in connection with U3A Groups and other activities such as trips.
  • Using it to validate your attendance and voting rights at General Meetings.
We will not transmit your data to anybody outside U3A without your explicit consent, except as required by law, or in order to deliver a purchase you have made, or to fulfil some other obligation we have to you.
If you cease to be a member, we will not retain your personal data for any longer than we are required to by law. Other than that, you have the right to have your personal information deleted immediately by notifying the Membership Secretary or the Data Controller.
